Weekend Lovelies: Summer Dog

I've got lots to post about but a ton of pictures to sort through first. In the meantime, I thought I'd post a few of shots of my happy hot dog from when we took him to Wenatchee last month for a little R&R. For those not from the area, Wenatchee is in central Washington and it gets HOT!

For the first five years of his, life Makai spent his days happily sun bathing in my backyard in Sacramento, so I was excited to get him back to some heat after seven cool years up here (especially after this soggy, crap bag summer).

Happy and hot.

Okay, okay. I'll stop taking pictures soon. (Seriously, I laugh every time I look at this one. He was so annoyed.)

See a secret friend in this one? That's Riley, who I wish could be Makai's girlfriend, but he can be unpredictably testy with other dogs, and she's a tiny little thing, so we thought it best to keep them seperated for the weekend.

Someone was not happy about it.

He lost so much weight after his stomach surgery. At this point, he had only been off of his special post-surgery diet for about a week, and was still pretty skinny and frail. A weekend of just hanging out in the fresh air, roaming around the yard, and resting/warming up his old bones is just what he needed. He loved it.

(BTW, he's back to a healthy weight now. Maybe a few pounds more than where he started!)
