I've had this old mirror for years, and I've never really liked it. Too foo foo. And while I've actually driven it to Goodwill TWICE on donation trips, I could never bring myself to get rid of a perfectly good mirror. So I thought I'd try giving it a little update, take the frilly bite out of it a little.
I knew I wanted to do something graphic to contrast with the frame, so I thought I'd try a frosted zigzag/chevron pattern.
After cleaning the dust off of it, I measured out my grid and drew my zigzag pattern on the glass with a felt pen.
Next I masked every other row off with painters tape.
I sprayed the mirror with a couple of coats of frosted glass spray paint (just a few bucks at any old craft store). I didn't bother taping off the frame before I sprayed. After the frosted paint dried for a few minutes, I pulled off the tape and I went in with a brush and painted the frame black with some acrylic paint.
I do wish the zigzags were shifted over two inches so they were Ws instead of Ms. The Ms look like they are frowning to me. Regardless, I think this old fancy pants mirror may have finally earned a spot on the wall.
