Pop Pop

Ummmm, this didn't work EXACTLY how I expected. May I present: my first attempt at making popcorn in a paper bag in the microwave. This was the version without using staples. :)

Aside from the fire I almost started, I think it's a great idea. It's cheaper, for one thing, but more importantly you aren't eating all that chemical garbage that is all over the microwaveable kind. AND as it was popping my house didn't fill up with that foul microwave popcorn smell.

I eyeballed the measurements - used a little less than 1/4 cup of kernels and just a splash of canola oil, and salted after it came out. I think salting before popping would actually be better though. Be sure to put a paper towel or plate under the bag while it's cooking if you use oil, it can get a little icky.

Someone recommended putting a little sugar in the bag for at-home kettle corn. I'll be trying that out, as well as different kinds of oil (I'm looking at you, sesame oil!).

YUM!! You have me thinking about this as an option... ESPECIALLY if my house won't smell after!
